EPC delivery of electrical balance of plant for a 200 MW utility-scale solar photovoltaic plant in the western region of Abu Dhabi.

Our role
EPC contractor for electrical balance of plant: HV switchyard, MV collector network, inverter stations, plant SCADA.
The challenge

What we walked into.

Site temperatures regularly exceed 50 °C in summer, with frequent sandstorms. The grid interconnection schedule was non-negotiable — energisation had to align with a separately contracted generation island.
Approach

How we delivered.

  1. 01FEED and detailed engineering for the 33 kV collection network and 132 kV substation.
  2. 02Equipment specification for 60+ string inverter stations, MV transformers and 132 kV gas-insulated switchgear.
  3. 03Procurement of long-lead transformers in parallel with FEED finalisation — saved 10 weeks against critical path.
  4. 04On-site construction supervision and commissioning in collaboration with the local civil contractor.
Outcome

What changed.

Energisation achieved 9 days ahead of contracted milestone.
Zero lost-time injuries across 14-month construction window.
Commissioning performance test result 1.4% above guaranteed PR.
